The Sports Authority of India (SAI), an autonomous organization under the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India, has released a notification inviting applications for the post of Assistant Coaches in various sports disciplines on a regular basis.

SAI plays a crucial role in the development and promotion of sports across the country. Its primary objective is to achieve excellence in sports by training and preparing athletes for participation in international competitions. The organization operates world-class sports infrastructure and training facilities across India.

To strengthen its coaching workforce and athlete support system, SAI has initiated direct recruitment for Assistant Coach positions across multiple sports disciplines. A total of 323 vacancies have been announced, distributed among various categories including UR, OBC, SC, ST, and EWS.

Selected candidates will be appointed at different Regional Centres, National Centres of Excellence, and training institutes located across India. These positions are part of Group ‘B’ posts and fall under Level 6 pay scale (₹35,400 – ₹1,12,400) along with additional government allowances such as DA, HRA, transport, and medical benefits.

The role of an Assistant Coach involves training athletes, improving their performance, implementing coaching techniques, and contributing to the overall development of sports talent. Candidates are expected to have strong knowledge of their respective sports, sports science, and coaching methodologies.

The selection process consists of two stages:

1. Computer Based Test (CBT) – evaluates sports knowledge, sports science, reasoning, and general awareness.
2. Coaching Ability Test (CAT) – assesses practical coaching skills and abilities.

The final selection will be based on a merit list prepared with 40% weightage for CBT and 60% for CAT.
