South Western Railway Apprentice Recruitment 2025 – Apply Online for 904 Posts

South Western Railway (SWR), under the Railway Recruitment Cell (RRC), Hubballi, has released the official notification for the engagement of 904 Act Apprentices for the year 2025-2026. Interested and eligible candidates can apply online through the official website www.rrchubli.in. This is an excellent opportunity for ITI pass candidates seeking a stable career in the Indian Railways under the Apprentices Act, 1961.

The notification, published under Advertisement No. SWR/RRC/Act Appr/01/2025 dated 11th July 2025, invites applications for various trades across divisions and workshops of South Western Railway, including Hubballi, Bengaluru, Mysuru divisions, and workshops located at Hubballi and Mysuru.

The online application process begins on 14th July 2025 and will continue till 13th August 2025 (23:59 hrs). Applications submitted through any other mode will not be accepted. Candidates are advised to apply early to avoid last-minute issues due to heavy website traffic.

The apprenticeship positions are open in multiple trades such as Fitter, Welder (Gas & Electric), Electrician, Machinist, Turner, Painter, Carpenter, Stenographer, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic, and PASAA (Programming and System Administration Assistant). Each trade requires a specific ITI qualification as recognized by NCVT/SCVT.

To be eligible for the apprenticeship, candidates must have passed 10th class examination or its equivalent (under 10+2 system) with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks from a recognized board. In addition, candidates must hold an ITI certificate in the relevant trade issued by NCVT/SCVT. Candidates who have completed or are currently undergoing apprenticeship training under the Apprentices Act, 1961, are not eligible to apply.

The age limit for applicants is 15 to 24 years as on the last date of application (13.08.2025). Age relaxation is applicable as per government norms: 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC, and 10 years for PwBD (Persons with Benchmark Disability). Ex-servicemen are eligible for additional relaxation based on their length of service.

The selection process will be purely based on merit. A merit list will be prepared by taking the average of the percentage marks obtained in matriculation (minimum 50%) and ITI. No written exam or interview will be conducted. In the case of a tie in marks, older candidates will be given preference. If age is also the same, candidates who passed matriculation earlier will be prioritized.

Candidates will be required to undergo document verification and medical examination before final engagement. The medical certificate must be issued by a government-authorized doctor (not below the rank of Assistant Surgeon) and must confirm that the candidate is fit for training in the relevant trade under the Apprentices Act.

The training duration for all trades is one year. During this period, selected candidates will receive a stipend as per the rules and directives of the Railway Board. No hostel accommodation will be provided, and candidates will be responsible for their own stay arrangements.

Applicants must pay a non-refundable application fee of ₹100/- through the online payment gateway using debit/credit card, UPI, or net banking. SC/ST, women, and PwBD candidates are exempt from paying the fee.

The application process is completely online. Candidates must visit www.rrchubli.in, fill out the application form with accurate details, upload scanned copies of their photograph, signature, and required documents, and pay the application fee (if applicable). Multiple applications or incorrect information may lead to disqualification.

It is important to retain a printout of the submitted online application and fee receipt for future reference. All communications regarding the recruitment process will be done through email and SMS. Hence, applicants must provide a valid mobile number and email ID.

Candidates belonging to reserved categories must upload the relevant caste or category certificates (SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwBD/Ex-servicemen) in the prescribed format. OBC candidates must also submit a valid non-creamy layer certificate issued on or after 01.04.2025.

This recruitment is purely for apprenticeship training purposes and does not guarantee employment in the Indian Railways after completion of training. However, apprentices will be eligible to apply for future open market railway recruitments as per existing rules.
