The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), under the Department of Space, Government of India, has announced a prestigious opportunity for young and talented engineering graduates to join the organisation as Scientist/Engineer ‘SC’ in the disciplines of Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Refrigeration & Air Conditioning, and Architecture. These positions are being offered in various constituent ISRO Centres/Units and Autonomous Bodies and are classified under Group ‘A’ posts with Level 10 of the Pay Matrix, which offers a starting basic salary of ₹56,100 per month, in addition to dearness allowance, house rent allowance, and transport allowance as per government norms. Selected candidates will also be entitled to benefits such as the New Pension Scheme, medical facilities, subsidised canteen access, limited housing, leave travel concessions, and other allowances and advances as per central government rules.

The Civil Engineering Programme Office (CEPO) at ISRO HQ and the Construction and Maintenance Divisions (CMDs) across ISRO centres are responsible for the planning, design, execution, and maintenance of all ISRO’s ground-based infrastructure and associated facilities. To strengthen this core function, ISRO is seeking engineering graduates with strong academic backgrounds and technical expertise. The required educational qualification for all posts is a BE/B.Tech or equivalent degree in the relevant discipline with a minimum aggregate of 65% marks or CGPA of 6.84/10. Specifically, Civil Engineering candidates must have a degree in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering candidates may have degrees in either Electrical or Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Refrigeration & Air Conditioning aspirants must have a Mechanical Engineering degree with relevant electives, and Architecture candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture along with valid registration with the Council of Architecture.

Vacancies are spread across categories and locations, including posts specifically identified for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD). For example, the Civil Engineering discipline offers 18 posts, Electrical has 10, Refrigeration & Air Conditioning has 9, and Architecture has 1 post. There is also one Civil Engineering position in an autonomous ISRO body. The reservation policy for SC/ST/OBC/EWS and PwBD is strictly followed, and appropriate relaxation in upper age limits is available—up to 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC, and other relaxations as per government directives.

The selection process is rigorous and comprises a written test and an interview. The written exam will be objective in nature, consisting of 100 questions divided into two parts—Part A includes 80 discipline-specific questions, and Part B tests general aptitude with 20 marks. Negative marking applies only to Part A. Candidates will be shortlisted for interviews in a 1:5 ratio based on their written test performance. The interview carries 100 marks and evaluates academic knowledge, technical awareness, communication skills, and academic achievements. A final merit panel is created using 50% weightage from the written test and 50% from the interview.

Candidates can apply for multiple posts but must choose the same exam centre for all applications. Application is online-only through ISRO’s official portal, open from 24 June 2025 to 14 July 2025, and a non-refundable processing fee of ₹750 is charged per post. However, ₹500 is refunded to candidates who attend the written exam, and ₹750 is fully refunded to women, SC/ST, PwBD, and ex-servicemen candidates attending the exam.

Applicants should ensure the accuracy of their online submissions, as no documents (except photo and signature in JPG format) are to be uploaded during application. Original documents will be verified during interviews. For those employed in government/public sector, a No Objection Certificate (NOC) must be submitted at the time of the interview.
