The Border Security Force (BSF), under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, has released a recruitment notification for the post of Constable (Tradesman) for the year 2024-25. In addition, they should possess either two years of experience in the relevant trade, or a one-year certificate course from ITI with one year of experience, or a two-year ITI diploma in the concerned trade.

For trades like Cook, Water Carrier, and Waiter, candidates must have passed Matriculation from a recognized board. Additionally, they should have completed a Level-1 course under the National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF) in food production or kitchen management, certified by the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) or an equivalent recognized institute.

The age criteria for this recruitment range from 18 to 25 years as on the closing date of application. Age relaxation is applicable for candidates belonging to reserved categories (SC/ST/OBC) and other special categories in accordance with the government rules and guidelines.

Applicants are required to pay a nominal application fee. The fee structure is as follows: ₹100/- for candidates belonging to General, OBC, and EWS categories, whereas candidates from SC, ST, and female categories are exempted from paying the fee. Payment is to be made online during the application process.

Physical standards are crucial for BSF Constable (Tradesman) posts. The minimum height for male candidates is generally 165 cm, with relaxations provided for candidates from specific regions and tribal categories. The chest measurement requirement is 75-80 cm. For female candidates, the height requirement is typically 155 cm, with no chest measurement applicable. The selection process consists of multiple stages, including Physical Standards Test (PST), Physical Efficiency Test (PET), Document Verification, Trade Test, Written Examination, and Medical Examination. BSF reserves the right to increase or decrease the number of vacancies and to cancel or postpone the recruitment process without assigning any reason. The distribution of vacancies will be done based on the state-wise population ratio of each State/UT.
