Bombay High Court Bharti 2025 – Recruitment for 36 Personal Assistant Posts

The High Court of Judicature at Bombay has officially released the notification for Bombay High Court Bharti 2025. This recruitment drive is being conducted for the post of Personal Assistant to the Hon’ble Judges at the Principal Seat in Mumbai. A total of 36 vacancies have been announced, including select list and wait list positions, offering a great opportunity for candidates who aspire to work in the judicial system. The online application process begins on 18th August 2025 and will remain open until 1st September 2025 through the official website of Bombay High Court.

The position of Personal Assistant is a highly responsible role that requires excellent shorthand, typing, and communication skills along with proficiency in computer operations. Selected candidates will work directly with Hon’ble Judges in the courtrooms, chambers, or residences and assist in various stenographic and administrative duties. The post is placed under Pay Matrix S-23 with a salary range of ₹67,700 – ₹2,08,700 plus allowances, making it a lucrative opportunity for eligible applicants.

As per the official notification, candidates must possess a University degree to apply. Preference will be given to those holding a Law degree. Additionally, they must have cleared the English Shorthand Examination with a speed of 120 words per minute or above, and the English Typing Examination with a speed of 50 words per minute or above. Knowledge of computer operations is mandatory, supported by recognized certificates such as GCC-TBC or equivalent. Candidates currently working as Stenographers with long experience in the High Court or other government offices may also be eligible, even without a formal degree.

In terms of age limit, applicants from the General category must be between 21 and 38 years of age, while candidates belonging to reserved categories such as SC, ST, OBC, and SBC are eligible up to the age of 43 years. High Court and Government employees applying through the proper channel do not have a maximum age bar, provided they are above 21 years. This inclusive age criteria ensures that candidates from different backgrounds have the opportunity to participate in this recruitment drive.

Interested applicants are required to pay a non-refundable application fee of ₹1000 through SBI Collect, which is the designated online payment gateway. It is important to note that the application process is strictly online, and submissions through post, courier, or hand delivery will not be accepted under any circumstances. Candidates should carefully read the instructions provided in the advertisement before filling the form to avoid rejection.

The selection process for Bombay High Court Bharti 2025 will be carried out in three stages: Shorthand Test, Typing Test, and Viva-Voce (oral interview). The Shorthand Test and Typing Test will carry 40 marks each, while the Viva-Voce will carry 20 marks. To qualify, candidates must secure at least 20 marks in shorthand, 20 marks in typing, and 8 marks in viva-voce. Only those who clear the shorthand test will be eligible for the typing test, and only candidates who pass both will be called for the viva-voce. The tests will be conducted on computers to evaluate speed and accuracy.

The examination schedule, venue details, and admit cards will be made available on the official Bombay High Court website. Candidates are advised to regularly check the website for updates and download their hall tickets on time. No separate communication through post will be made regarding the test or interview schedule. Applicants should carry their admit card along with a valid photo ID such as Aadhaar, PAN, Voter ID, Passport, or Driving License to the examination hall.

Once the recruitment process is completed, the Bombay High Court will prepare a select list and wait list based on merit. The lists will remain valid for two years from the date of publication, unless extended by the Hon’ble Chief Justice. Candidates included in the wait list may get an opportunity if selected candidates do not join within the stipulated period or leave the post within the validity of the list. However, inclusion in the wait list does not guarantee appointment.

After selection, candidates will be appointed on probation for a period of two years. During this time, their work and conduct will be observed. Only after successful completion of probation will they be confirmed in service. The job of a Personal Assistant is demanding, requiring candidates to work from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and often beyond these hours, including holidays, depending on court requirements and instructions from the Judges. Therefore, applicants must be prepared for a challenging yet rewarding career in the judicial sector.

Candidates should also be aware of eligibility restrictions. Those who are not citizens of India, those convicted of criminal offences, individuals with more than two children born after 28th March 2006, or candidates with more than one living spouse are not eligible to apply. Additionally, applicants must maintain good moral character and provide character certificates issued by two respectable persons, along with other mandatory documents such as educational certificates, domicile certificate, caste certificate (if applicable), and proof of computer proficiency.

Overall, Bombay High Court Bharti 2025 is an excellent opportunity for law graduates, stenographers, and candidates with strong typing and computer skills to secure a prestigious government job. The role of a Personal Assistant to the Hon’ble Judge comes with responsibility, respect, and attractive pay, along with the chance to contribute directly to the functioning of the judiciary. Interested candidates are encouraged to prepare thoroughly for the shorthand and typing tests and submit their applications well before the deadline to avoid last-minute issues.
